Annotation
Each essay of this volume focuses on a problem in the ethnography of folklore in an African society, whilst combined they open the way for a comparative ethnography of African folklore, concentrating mainly on the performances of tales and songs, revealing thereby the intricacies of the relations between the forms of oral literature and the political authorities that they serve or subvert.
