Annotation
This volume reports on syntactic structures and discourse devices characteristic of spontaneous spoken language. A systematic analysis of spoken English is presented. Arguing that there are systematic differences between spoken and written language, the implications of their findings for typology, first-language acquisition, and education are discussed in conclusion.
