Annotation

This work systematically explores how we employ the temporal information in texts or discourse to reason in time about the flow of time, using as a starting point the concepts of dynamic interpretation, partial information, context and situated inference. Analyses of various short narrative discourses, show the importance of tense, aspectual class, temporal adverbials and causal connections in determining temporal relations. It is argued, however, that causality should not be integrated into a theory of temporal reasoning.
