Annotation

This companion book to L.'s theoretical work 'Language diversity and thought' compares Yucatec Maya and English grammatical structures surrounding pluralization and noun classifiers and their influence on everyday perception. The three main chapters describe Yucatec Maya culture and language, compare number in the two languages, and discuss the cognitive tests given to the sample of 12 Maya-speaking men and 12 English-speaking students of the university of Chicago.
