This book works out some traditional anthropological themes – such as social structure, myth, and ritual – in the context of a Brazilian Amerindian community, into a discussion of core epistemological and methodological concerns: the nature of ethnographic research, truth- or correctness-criteria for ethnographic claims, and the role of discourse in organizing cultural experience and structuring the outcome of fieldwork.
