Analysis of the relation between specific kinds of linguistic forms (e.g. sentences) and particular types of speech acts. The basic question asked is: What forms are available to perform one particular type of speech act and what does a form have to be like in order that we can perform this particular kind of speech act, what are the form's general characteristics?
