Annotation
In contrast to natural language, the formal languages of science mostly lack pragmatic aspects. However, when scientific knowledge is transmitted through communicative acts, the resulting scientific discourse is usually a mixture of formal and natural language. The author then asks the question what consequences arise from this mode of expression, and whether the pragmatic aspects introduced by this mixture is foreign to the advancement of science.
