K. discusses some aspects of indirect speech in Hungarian, related to the semantics of the matrix verb of the reporting utterance. The aspects under examination are: the relationship between verbs of saying and factivity, between factives and emotives, and the behavior of verbs of saying in connection with the nonpropositional elements of the utterance.
