An analysis of communicative acts of justification. H. differentiates the `outer structure' and the `inner structure' of justification acts. In the `outer structure', the act is seen or defined as part of a larger action-sequence: `reproach-justification-interaction'. In the `inner structure' or explanation of the mechanisms of justification, the act is regarded as a reconstruction of the action which has to be justified.
