Analysis of the interactive procedures (i.e. linguistically explicit or implicit operations and techniques for negotiating procedural structure in interaction) in foreign language verbal interaction. Inefficient use of these procedures in non-educational settings are traced back to characteristics of the educational foreign language learning situation.
