Ethnographic exploration of the term `communication', and of the discursive field in which it finds a place. The authors' purpose is to make problematic the meaning of the term in some American texts, and they study its use in different texts and contexts. More specifically, this analysis focusses on one specific field of discourse: interpersonal relationships.
