The authors draw the outlines of a functional-procedural framework called `Discourse Interaction Schemata' that models the dynamics of verbal interaction in speech situations, and focuses on the coordinative-negotiative function of these schemata among interlocutors in every-day speech situations in an ordinary speech community.
