Linde, Charlotte. 1987. The life story: A temporally discontinuous discourse type. In Duncan, Starkey Jr. Indexicality in language and `nonverbal communication'. In : 77–81. : 189–206.
Annotation
An attempt to show that discourse units like the narrative are used to form higher level units, one of which, the life story, is temporally discontinuous (told over an indefinite number of separate occasions). Focus is on the principles used by speakersto construct these life stories coherently.
