Theoretical essay, from a philosophical perspective, on language and its capacity to mediate knowledge. It is argued that two fundamental dimensions of language (one involving the relation subject-object; one involving the relation subject-subject) are reducible to one dimension, or rather, that one can be reduced to the other.
