Annotation

M. analyses intercultural communication between American and Japanese employees in Tokyo, focusing on the communicative role of verbal listening behavior in determining judgements of attitude, empathy, etc. of the interlocutors. The claim is that differences in cultural assumptions about what is appropriate listening may therefore lead to misunderstanding and/or negative evaluations.
