A critical discussion of the epistemic approach to the question-answer sequence. The approach is situated vis-à-vis alternative theories of questions stemming from Speech Act Theory, formal semantics and conversational analysis, and it's methodological limitations indicated from the point of view of the psycho-pragmatic conception of natural language use.
