Annotation
The author aims to show that the boundary between yes/no-questions and matters of degree is itself a matter of degree - a fuzzy borderline. More precisely: matters of degree are also amenable to yes/no-questions, in virtue of the `taking up' principle, viz. whatever is not wholly false is true.
