Annotation

T. argues that what is commonly referred to as reported speech in conversation is constructed dialogue, which is a means by which experience surpasses story to become drama. She then analyzes the forms and functions of constructed dialogue in two genres of two languages. The literary data are two novels: `Household Words' by Joan Silber, and `The third wedding' by Kostas Taktsis.
