Discussion on island phenomena. The author raises and explores a number of questions regarding pragmatically oriented accounts of these phenomena. The central questions are: What are the possible consequences of a pragmatically-based theory of island phenomena for linguistic theory? Would such an account have any interesting theoretical implications?
