Analysis of illocutionary structures in dialogue, more specifically of the nature and structure of illocutionary knowledge, and its manifestation in utterances. It is argued that illocutionary knowledge cannot only be seen as knowledge of the constitution of conversational contributions, but must be seen to also contain knowledge about their embedding in dialogues.
