The authors raise the issue of whether individual interior planning is different from dialogical interaction. Analysis shows that thinking aloud protocols of L1-L2 translation techniques applied to advanced learners are rather reminiscent of dialogues between the problem-conscious L2 user and her/himself. This interactional character manifests itself at all relevant levels.
