Annotation
The author argues that arguments are possible in situations that are not dictated by opposing interests, where decisions are not expected, or where the discussion does not involve a controversial issue. These are situations in which the participants agree in basic norms and social prinicples of everyday life, and where they additionally construct and affirm this shared knowledge through the use of linguisitic means of argumentation.
