Annotation

The authors examine 6th grade classroom interaction, focusing on writing conferences between teachers and students. The aim is to analyze the teacher's authority and interactional control of knowledge. They argue that pedagogical innovations may be transformed to resemble familiar classroom routines under institutional pressures and familiar habits of schooling.
