Annotation

This paper reacts against the reduction of vagueness in truthconditional approaches to semantics. Powell argues that vagueness may constitute a communicative option for ordinary speakers. She intends to demonstrate that vague quantifiers are essentiallyevaluative in function, using the hedge 'literally'.
