Annotation

Cornish argues, first, that there is no dichotomy between semantico-syntactic and referential-anaphoric pronouns, but a cline, according to the degree to which a pronoun's referent or its intension is presupposed by the speaker; second, that anaphoric pronouns refer in terms of the discourse representation by means of which the discourse referent is encoded; and third, that agreement is not a necessary condition for the interpretation of pronominal anaphors, since they are relatively independent referential expressions.
