C. attempts to approach some aspects of the problem of the relation between language and the world, by providing a formal model within which to define notions which play a crucial role in the study of language. In order to do this, a formal analysis of English is given. The book contains a chapter in which pragmatic concepts are introduced into the model. Part of the analysis of English in terms of the formal model concerns aspects of meaning and use.
