This volume sets out to provide an overview of current trends in French sociolinguistics, with a focus on its interdisciplinary nature and its wide range of approaches. The approached themes include, amongst others, the interrelatedness of linguistics and sociology or ethnology within sociolinguistics, certain aspects of the analysis of political discourse and of the language of the media, the concept and use of situation in sociolinguistic studies.
