Annotation
D. describes a case in which bilingual speakers of Cree and English attempt to examine their own bilingual situation in order to encourage language maintenance. She shows how the knowledge of linguistically naive speakers about their own language can be abstracted by them for a practical and socially motivated purpose in such a way as to increase a linguist's analytical understanding of Cree.
