This paper proposes to unravel the precise nature of the particular system of paradigmatic and syntagmatic salience signaling in Oromo and the underlying general principles of discourse structure, by investigating question-answer pairings representing different forms and orderings of subjects and objects and native speakers' judgements of their relative acceptability and naturalness.
