Annotation

Besides structural differences, there are significant pragmatic features distinguishing Aboriginal from Standard Australian English, especially regarding the ways of asking and answering questions. A sociolinguistic analysis of a police interview with an Aboriginal English speaker reveals that his alleged murder confession is based on an inaccurate interpretation of Aboriginal question-related features.
