This study in 'discourse microsociolinguistics' provides an empirical analysis and a coherent description at all levels of language of the speech produced in the interviews with 12 informants from lower and middle class groups from the town of Ayr, Schotland. The author comments on the differences between the two groups, but questions the validity of the quantitative results and doesn't provide a description of the oral genres.
