This paper proposes to clarify the conceptual foundations of mentalist pragmatics and to highlight similarities and differences among two major mentalist pragmatic theories, i.e. those of Kasher and Sperber and Wilson. The main focus throughout is on their respective claims about the required mental entities to account for pragmatic phenomena.
