This study argues that the concessive meaning of AS has to be analyzed as a discursive strategy, providing a description via argumentative topoi and polyphony theory and theoretical, historical and synchronic arguments challenge recent discussions that derive this concessive meaning from the notion of permission. Finally the combinatory possibilities of AS indicate the need to distinguish between the euphoric and dysphoric nature of semantic entities in the semantic description of Modern Greek.
