Annotation

This study reveals that group membership is an important factor in determining code choices and code-switching by Korean-English bilinguals in conversations with first and second generation in- and outgroup members. The closer the relationship, the more they use English, the more distant the relationship, the more they use Korean, an association related to two aspects of politeness: volition and discernment.
