Annotation
In this first textbook on the linguistics of linguistics of humor, in an attempt to determine the necessary and sufficient conditions for humor to occur, A. critically surveys most of the available scholarship on humor linguistics, suggests areas for further research and proposes some original contributions in hitherto un(der)explored areas. As to the latter, A. for instance supports research on phonemic distance, attempts to explain why in certain situations interlocutors consider paronyms synonymous, withstanding evidence, and classifies the application studies inspired by script theory.
