Drawing on the works of Bakhtin, Volosinov and Wittgenstein, this paper critically reviews Huspek's emancipatory linguistics with the aim of furthering the project, addressing some of the emerging theoretical, methodological and empirical problems, for instance by highlighting the need for a broader empirical basis and a more developed theoretical framework via the introduction of a case study of working class struggle.
