This study examines the responses of 240 speakers of Chinese, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese and Arabic to a questionnaire dealing with perceptions of American English L2 pragmalinguistic norms/behaviors, and the ranking according to (dis)agreement by a control group of native speakers. Despite the evident recognition, non-native speakers often consider L2 pragmalinguistic norms critically.
