Annotation

This book examines on-going language change via the study of synchronic variation -considered a necessary basis for diachronic change-, found with respect to children and adults, educated and uneducated language users, and educated speakers and the puristic norms of the Hebrew Language Establishment (HLE). Its aim is to gain insight in what constitutes current 'Standard Hebrew' and to identify social, psychological and age-related factors that are responsible for the types of variation and finally lead to a change of standard.
