Annotation
This article argues that the choice and usage of spatial cues predicts the overall poetics and thus the overall aesthetics tendencies of a specific discourse, as well as the use of narrative conventions and the ideological directions. It then analyzes the functions of spatial cues in cinematic discourses which respectively show a tendency towards spatial coherence (JURASSIC PARK by Spielberg) and towards spatial incoherence (PROSPERO'S BOOKS by Greenaway).
