Annotation

This article discusses Carroll's (1994,1996) proposals regarding the nature and the delimitation of 'pictorial' metaphor in static and moving images in terms of the 'visual' model developed by Forceville (1996). Two theses inherent in Carroll's approach are rejected, namely that most prototypical pictorial metaphors allow reversibility of their respective sources and targets and that they are homospatially noncompossible.
