Annotation

Focusing on conducive questions in English academic discourse, this study develops a prior analysis model that hinges on the concept of polarity between a questioner's old belief underlying the question, his new mental assumption, the expected answer and the formal aspect of the question itself. Some defined question classes convey different degrees of conduciveness and different discourse functions.
