This paper proposes to accomodate alternative approaches to academic intellectual interchange alongside agonistic ones, given the various negative consequences accompanying the latter, such as: the assumption that agonism equals negative critique; the search for weaknesses in other scholars' work at the expense of seeking strenghts; the conceptualization of two warring camps and the marginalization of those who avoid agonistic interchange.
