This descriptive and quantitative study of the dialect of Ayr (Southwest Scotland) includes a wide range of variables covering syntax, lexis and discourse features besides the phonological and morphological variables. The data are gathered from interviews with 6 middle-class and 6 lower-class adult respondents (3 women, 9 men).
