The aim of this book, which draws from linguistics, sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics, is to detail the complexity of the knowledge and skills possessed by the native speaker of any language, but also to increase the perceived accessibility of language for non-native speakers. D. believes that the status of a native speaker is connected with language attitudes, sociocultural factors and self-identification.
