The essays in this volume are predominantly analytic studies of aspects of discourse that arise from or show assymetries -of knowledge, perspective, responsibility, authority etc.- between the participants. Half of the essays concern power directly, the other only implicitly. They make us consider when, why and in what sense to take account of social power in dialogue studies.
