This volume contains three studies on bilingualism: "Hungarian language use in Slovakia between 1918 and 1991"; "Speakers of Hungarian in Austria today"; and "Code-switching and consciousness in the European periphery". The latter explores the relation of historical, political and economic circumstances to code-switching of Italian guestworkers in Germany, Hungarian speakers in Austria and German-speaking Saxons in Romania.
