Annotation
This volume which contains 12 contributions, of which 3 are truly new, by Birmingham-inspired discourse analysts, discusses the following issues: discourse analysis; intonation in discourse; exchange structures; priorities in discourse analysis; functional description of questions; delicacy problems addressed via the rank scale; analysis of everyday conversation; spoken discourse in the language classroom; intonation and feedback in the EFL classroom; interactive lexis: prominence and paradigms; listening to people reading; and forensic discourse analysis. There are no serious replies to the criticisms of Birmingham-style discourse analysis.
