This book offers an interdisciplinary study of children's fiction and the ideology operating either implicitly or explicitly within it, in one of the three following forms (cfr. Hollindale's description, 1988): as the writer's explicit moral, social or political beliefs; as the writer's implicit, passive, unexamined assumptions and as the ideology inherent in the language itself.
