Annotation

This paper discusses how the Fijian-Hindi code-switching is used for joking and kinship obligations among indigenous Fijians. Psychological research into humor illuminates why this code-switching is considered as funny. Furthermore the paper surveys studies on code-switching used for humorous effects in other societies and investigates code-switching in relation to style-shifting and unintegrated borrowing.
