Annotation
This collection of surveys on contact between two or more varieties of Romance languages, with recurrent themes such as conflict, power and linguistic ideology, is divided into four sections. Section I contains overviews of the field from the three perspectives of contact and diglossia, conflict and decline and standardization. The second section provides eight contributions on Romance bilingualism in Europe. The third section deals with Romance bilingualism, primarily creoles, outside of Europe. The fourth section addresses second language acquisition by immigrants, focusing on Romance/Romance bilingualism.
